Convert WebP to PNG in your browser.

WebP in, PNG out, right here in your browser. Your file is read and re-encoded in this tab, so nothing is uploaded.

The converter loads in a moment. If it does not, enable JavaScript; the conversion runs in this tab, so the page needs it.

About WebP to PNG

What this conversion does

WebP is the modern web format: smaller than JPG at the same quality, with transparency, and every current browser reads it. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, so it is what screenshots, icons and graphics get saved as. This page moves a WebP to a PNG in your own browser: the file is read, re-encoded and handed back without being uploaded.

Both formats carry transparency, so a transparent background survives the conversion.

PNG is lossless, so nothing further is thrown away. Where the WebP was already lossy, that stops the damage rather than repairing it.

PNG holds a single frame, so an animated WebP converts to its first frame.

WebP to PNG questions

Is converting WebP to PNG free?

Yes, and there is nothing to unlock. The conversion runs in your browser, so there is no account, nothing to pay and no licence key to enter. Every format and every feature on the site is available to everyone.

Are my WebP files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is decoded and re-encoded inside this tab and never uploaded. The ads on this page are served by Google and do see that you are here, but they never see your file. You can check it yourself: open the network panel and search for a request carrying your picture.

Does the PNG keep transparency?

Yes. Both WebP and PNG carry an alpha channel, so a transparent background comes through unchanged.

Is the PNG really lossless?

The PNG is lossless, so this conversion adds no quality loss of its own. It cannot put back detail the WebP already discarded, because that information is not in the file any more.

What happens to an animated WebP?

PNG holds one frame, so an animated WebP converts to its first frame. The page says so on the queue row rather than handing you a still image that looks like the animation worked.

Can I convert more than one WebP file at once?

Yes. Drop a batch onto the page and every file is converted in the queue, then downloaded together. The queue also shows the size before and after, so you can see what the conversion saved. There is no cap on how many files you convert at once; the only real limit is what your device can hold in memory at the same time.
